Skin and heartworm infections are caused by Dirofilaria repens and immitis - parasites spread by mosquitoes. In some cases the animal is infected with only one of these species but mixed infections are common, too. In Caladrius we promote screening and proper preventive treatment because prevention is always poses less risks to the animal than the treatment.
